verdicts

David M. Resis has represented plaintiffs in Illinois in matters involving medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and other serious injury claims that have proceeded through litigation and, in some cases, trial.

Publicly reported outcomes from cases handled as part of trial teams include:

• Participation in a Cook County nursing home negligence case that resulted in a $5.5 million jury verdict, described in legal writeups as the largest nursing home verdict in Illinois at the time it was rendered.

• Participation in a Cook County nursing home negligence matter that resulted in a record-setting jury award in 2016.

• Representation of plaintiffs in a Cook County nursing home negligence case resulting in a $972,000 jury verdict.

These matters involved allegations of failures in care, supervision, and compliance with applicable standards governing medical providers and long-term care facilities. Cases were developed through investigation, expert review, discovery, and trial preparation, and were presented to juries in Illinois courts.

In addition to trial-level work, Mr. Resis has been involved in appellate litigation before the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, including matters in which rulings were reviewed and remanded for further proceedings.

Many claims involving catastrophic injury or wrongful death resolve prior to trial through negotiated settlement. Due to confidentiality provisions commonly associated with such resolutions, not all outcomes are publicly reported or available through court records.

Additional information regarding publicly filed cases may be available through Illinois court dockets, appellate opinions, and legal reporting services.
